Great Career Moves (and escapes!) for

For Mid-life Career Change

You're a corporate executive or self-employed professional who faces a 21st century career challege. But you struggle with your game plan. You don't want to leave your comfort zone and you're not sure what your next step might be.

You may be facing a tough decision, combining relocation and career challenges, worried about layoffs or considering a Great Escape: sabbatical, school or self-employment. You may be facing a tricky situation and looking for an objective, non-judgmental sounding board.

Are you facing one of these 3 mid-life career challenges:

career bulletCombining career and relocation

career bullet Combining academic and career

career bullet Considering an escape from the corporate career to entrepreneurship (or taking a sabbatical time out just for fun)

Then you're in the right place! Read on...

Hi, I'm
Cathy Goodwin, Ph.D.

As a career consultant, I partner with midcareer professionals who are facing just THREE types of career challenge Some want to consider moving to a whole new arena, such as starting a new business.  Others just want to return to school as a student, teacher or professor. Still others want to relocate geographically or take a job that requires a geographic move.

Here's why I've specialized in these 3 areas (and how you can benefit):

I've published a book about relocation and have been recognized as an "expert" on the psychological aspects of relocation -- the part that's not about packing a box and loading the moving van.

I spent 20 years as a college professor (and almost as many as a student). So if your career calls for a return to school, or you're considering an academic career for yourself, I'm one of the few sources with the experience to help.

I've been working on my own and understand the fears and very realistic concerns that you should have before venturing into working on your own.

My approach combines life experience, research, and my own unique brand of irreverence. About 1/3 of my work comes from previous clients.  They call me for a second, third or fourth round of follow-up consulting  -- 3 months, 6 months, even 2 years after we begin. I'm honored that they remember me as their careers grow and change...and continue to believe our work together is genuinely helpful.
